ABOUT

Odyssey for Personal Wellness

An adventure, a time to explore and reflect. Personal wellness is a lifestyle and often a cyclical process, because as time passes we evolve and, therefore, our lifestyle needs to change – an upgrade, if you will. I see personal wellness as a way to use what you have been given for a higher purpose than what it may have been used in the past. To discover yourself as a source of ever-expanding potential.

What does it mean to thrive?

Often, we inherit much of our expectations about ourselves from family and our culture. But, there can be an inner conflict with the expectations placed upon us and those expectations that come from our personal values.

A good place to start is making distinctions between the two and to recognize the experience of congruence, when the head and heart agree. Then that becomes the basis for thriving and happiness.

Regaining personal power and self-determination.

The next step for expressing ourselves comes from being completely honest and responsible for who we are and who we become. This includes transforming our relationship with the past and connecting to an inspiring future. This initiates a process of repeatedly gaining awareness of self-sabotage and practicing skills to increase our freedom of expression.

Momentum and Skills

I work with my clients to help them help themselves. We focus on what works to keep you connected to your vision, manage your reactivity to your circumstances, recover quickly and genuinely from your setbacks and increase your freedom from conditioning.

With skillful means of a therapist, you can reshape your experience of the past, remembering troubling events as facts of your history, minus the painful emotions and feelings of being overwhelmed. You will have the opportunity to learn to connect with untapped resources within you for a brighter future with more personal freedom and trust in your ability to handle what life gives you, even if it’s a kick in the teeth.

ABOUT ME

I have been spending most of my life learning to let go of self-imposed limitations. I still have them, but they have me less and less. It’s a lifestyle, and there is no end.

A turning point for me was to see the charade created by the mind. Once I realized that the work became easier and less threatening. I also recognized that I cannot do it by myself. I need information and reflection outside the fishbowl I carry on my shoulders.

I have been a listener for as long as I can remember. Now with my training and personal experience, my desire is to facilitate others to experience profound freedom – to be emotionally and intellectually convinced that their habitual responses are not their only options. These can be deeply existential experiences and revolutionary.

As a therapist, I have worked in the fields of domestic violence and adult sexual offenders. I approached my work as an opportunity to continue to open my heart and be with people as they are, with care and empathy.

I was raised in the Midwest and moved to California in 2006. My work reflects the mentality of both influences, grounded effort and visionary potential.
